                                    How to Check Trademark Status in India

                        To check the status of a trademark in India, follow these steps:

 

Step 1: Visit the Trademark Registry Website

Step 2: Navigate to the Trademark Status Search Page

  1. On the homepage, locate the "Trademarks" section.
  2. Click on the "Related Links/Trademark Status" link.



 

Step 3: Select the Search Type

  • On the redirected page, click on “Trademark Application/Registered Mark”.
  • Select the “National/IRDI Number” option.





Step 4: Enter Application Details

  1. Enter the Trademark Application Number that you received while filing the application.
  2. Solve the CAPTCHA code and click Search/Submit.



Step 5: View the Status

The search results will display the following details:

  • Application Status: Examined, Objected, Opposed, Accepted, Registered, or Abandoned.
  • Applicant Name.
  • Filing Date.
  • Class of Goods/Services.
  • Trademark Journal Information (if published).

 











Status Descriptions

  • Examined: The application is under scrutiny by the trademark examiner.
  • Objected: The examiner has raised objections; you need to reply within the stipulated time.
  • Opposed: A third party has opposed the trademark.
  • Accepted: The application has been accepted and is awaiting registration.
  • Registered: The trademark is successfully registered.
  • Abandoned: The application has been abandoned due to non-compliance or inactivity.

 

Step 6: Take Action (If Needed)

  • For Objections or Oppositions, consult a trademark attorney to prepare and file a response.
  • If the status shows Registered, ensure timely renewal to maintain your trademark rights.
